This is how
conversation goes between our daughter and me one evening:
“I don’t
like you,” says the daughter right after I ask her to redo the work she had
done. This particular subject is not one of her strong points.
“Ok,” I
respond trying hard not to make a big issue of it.
“I think I
hate you,” the instigation continues.
“I know,” says
me.
After about
two minutes. “I didn’t
mean it. You know I love you,” says the daughter with please-forgive-me
expression.
“I know. It
is possible to hate and love the same person at the same time,” I was clearly
in a stoic mode.
“No, no…I
like you a lot. I love you. Either you like a person or you don’t…you cannot do
both at the same time,” the daughter in a trying to make amends frame of mind.
“Hmmm…you
still have to do this work again,” says me.
“I just don’t
like you,” says the daughter with a scowl.
