Like most mothers, I am most irritated by having to repeat the same thing about 10 times to daughter before it gets done. So my mornings comprise of: please finish your milk (On an average I say this about 10-12 times before it gets finished); please put the tiffin in your bag (5 times); please close your book and put the water bottle in the bag etc etc. It is extremely irritating and bugging. And now that she has grown up, she doesn't like this constant badgering.
After a lot of negotiation we decided to change the tactics. Instead of perpetually sitting on her head to do this or that, we told her we would drop her to school only when she does everything on her own. We made it absolutely clear that nobody was going to tell her to do anything. If she is late for school...it is her problem and not ours.
Today was the first day of the implementation of this agreement and it worked beautifully. The kidoo finished her milk in time and actually asked me to comb her hair so that she is not late for school. I just hope I haven't said it too soon and it works in the long run as well. :)
