After standing for two hours (yes, two hours!!) for check-in, emmigration and security, I am finally sitting with my Starbucks coffee and laptop. I am all set to go to Barcelona to attend Mobile World Congress. This is my first visit to Spain and of course, I am excited. You are not really a telecom journalist till you attend the biggest telecom event on the globe.
As usual I have extended my Spanish Sojourn by two-three days. Everytime I travel internationally for official purposes, I try (and most of the time succeed) in extending my trip by a few days. I will be honest, I have never really suffered from any major guilt pangs for staying away from Kidoo for these two-three days. One reason is that I believe I have done my best for her. I have taken her for vacations even when I could barely afford one. However, this time it has finally hit me. I did extend my trip but there is some reluctance. Somehow I just do not want to miss a single day of her fast vanishing childhood.
In the end I finally decided to extend for two main reasons. I badly needed this break to seriously think about the future course of my career. It is at a cross road and howsoever I like to postpone taking decisions, this one needs to be decided at the earliest. Secondly, I reckon this break will give me some quality time to finish my book. I hardly sleep when I travel, so I am likely to get a lot of time to finish my almost-done book. Though I have been devoting time to this venture, some dedicated time was much required and should go a long way in taking this to its logical conclusion.
The next few days should see an increased number of posts as I am likely to have some time on hand and hopefully something to write about...
