Orlando Odyssey

We started our American journey from Orlando. I did not enjoy Orlando so much to be honest. Orlando is home to Disney theme parks and other theme parks. I didn't enjoy for the same reason. It just seems to be one ride after another. And since I do not enjoy the rides so much, I was just looking forward to the Orlando tour to come to an end. I did enjoy the Samu Shark Show and Dolphin show at Sea World though. It is an absolutely must visit.

I did like Kennedy Space Center which is a must visit. Many people just focus on the theme parks and don't visit KSC at all but it is simply awesome. It might have something to do with my generation's obsession with space. For a long time I had the pic of Rakesh Sharma (our spaceman) on my door at HAL Township. I was totally in awe of Rakesh Sharma and harbored dreams of emulating him. Alas Kavita Chawla beat me to it...lol. I thoroughly enjoyed KSC and didn't want to come out of it. This definitely has something to do with how well maintained the museum is. The fact that they also take you to Launch Pad 39A from where real rockets are launched even now makes it all the more mesmerising. And that is not all. You actually get to meet an astronaut. Yup you do...I could not believe it myself till I actually met one.

I notice that my daughter's generation is ok with man's space odyssey...they just take it for granted. And that is fair enough. They have different challenges to surmount. Space was my generation's dream not her's.

Orlando is full of lakes. And this picture is of a lake in our hotel

No visit to Disney theme parks can be complete without their characters...so here they are in their full glory

Totally, totally loved our visit to Kennedy Space Center...absolutely a must visit. The main attraction is that you can meet and talk with an astronaut and you also see all the three parts of Apollo 11...super cool. We met Roger Crouch who managed to go to space even though he is color blind--that is determination for you.

More later...
