Harmandir Sahib
A sight precious to Sikhs
As I said in my earlier post, I absolutely love visiting Harmandir Sahib and this time it was no different. I love sitting by the side of the Sarovar and gazing at the Golden temple and its shadow for as long as I can. I also absolutely love sitting on the first floor of the temple and looking out from the window. If you gaze for a long time, you feel that you are in a moving boat.
What I don't like about Amritsar is that it is far, far away from cleanliness. The charm of visiting Amritsar will be much more if it was even 20 percent clean of what it is right now. There is a dichotomy here though. Though Amritsar is not clean, Harmandir Sahib is super clean, this is especially so if you consider the number of people who visit Harmandir Sahib. I bought two Phulkaris dupattas and believe it or not nothing else. And though we were planning to go to Wagah border, in the end we decided not to go. We had visited Wagah Border last time and it was just too crowded. Morever you need to start at 1 pm to reach by 3 pm for the show which starts at 6 pm--it involved just too much of effort. We decided to stay at the hotel and use the spa instead. Not a bad choice I must say. :)
