That time of the year...

It is that time of the year when people start thinking of kya khoya, kya paya at the end of the year. I am bitten by this bug every year and this year is no different.

The year was a momentous one for me. I started the year with a new job and can say with certainty that I am learning a lot here...not just about the telecom industry but also about the process of writing. I am constantly required to think which is not something I can say of my earlier assignment. I also love the fact that the stress is on quality and not quantity. I am told that to research a story thoroughly before sending it, which is not something a media house generally aims for. The stress is on depth and not width, which is a welcome change.

My daughter is nine years old now and I absolutely love spending time with her (cant say the same about her). She is turning out to be fine young woman who loves to dress up, buy anything with hannah montana written on it (pencil, eraser, geomtry box, even bedsheet...ahhhh), loves to read (Famous Five and anything about earth, galaxy, constellations, milky way etc). This year she gave her first casio performance. Continues to do well in her studies. And also, I forgot to mention...she writes amazingly well. I know what you are thinking...its the genes ;-).

We travelled to Malaysia this year and thoroughly enjoyed the trip. While Kuala Lumpur was disappointing, Genting and Langkawi were great. Langkawi rocks. In  fact, I think we should have totally avoided KL. Like me, she is also a ghumakad (loves to travel and starts pestering me for a vacation after about two months of the last trip). She also got a new room for herself this year. I spent a fortune in purchasing furniture for her and my room. On the whole an eventful year for her. Next year she will turn 10...one full decade. How did she manage to grow up so fast? Is there any way I can hold on to the innocence for some more time?

Another emerging trend of the year was a drop in my reading activity. Didnt read as much as I usually did. Mainly becos of internet and Facebook. But frankly, am bored of FB now and plan to read much more in the coming year. But on the positive side, have been very regular with the blog. Am not going through the posts again but I think I would have posted two posts a month at least...will increase this more in the coming year. Writing a blog is important to me because it makes me think of things I usually don't or tend to overlook in the madness of everyday living.

What are my thoughts for the coming year? Some personal projects need to be completed. Hope to include physical activity in everyday life. Hope to read religious texts in the coming year. Plan to visit Gurudwara regularly. Need to make my social life as happening as my daughters :-)...what else?
