Exams, House Arrest And NaNoWriMo...

I had earlier decided to blog everyday of this month but of course, I hadn't taken my daughter's exams into account. And of course, life comes at a perfect standstill when your kid has exams. Exam time is generally very stressful time at our place. I try not to disturb the daughter in any which way...this means that I don't fix up any meeting (professional and otherwise) and I am literally under house arrest. I try not to talk loudly so she doesn't get disturbed...this also means that sometimes I end up standing in sweltering heat to conduct an interview.

No mother (no Indian mother, at least) can ignore exam time and I guess, I am no different. Your kid might be five-year old or 15-year-old, most of us will get stressed about exams...such is the nature of Indian education system. I don't recall ever being so stressed about my own exams but daughter's test papers are totally different ball game. I was hardly ever a paranoid mother but my daughter is now in senior school and in spite of best efforts I am unable to not fret.

Now, I find myself thinking about her future quiet often, which stresses me out. Which college would she eventually go to? Which subjects are most suitable for her? Is it best to take Science so she can decide after senior secondary? Ideally I would want to leave the decision to the daughter but she is somewhat unsure which makes it tough. So future studies is the subject of many arguments and debates at our place nowadays.

Nevertheless I hope to write everyday of the month starting October 1. This year I plan to take part in NaNoWriMo, which is usually conducted in November every year...let's see. As of now I do plan to but dekhte hain...kal kisne dekha hai.

So far so good. We will know for sure only after a few years whether the decision was right or wrong...:)
